    CHP officer saves injured owl from Northern California roadway

    (FOX40.COM) — A California Highway Patrol officer patrolling Sacramento County saved an owl that was in the middle of a roadway .

    The agency said Officer Hang was in the southern area of the county on Thursday night when he saw the injured owl standing in the middle of one of the roadway lanes near Twin Cities and Bruceville Roads.

    The area is primarily made up of farm fields, several miles west of Galt.

    The officer stopped and safely rescued the owl before calling Sacramento County Animal Control.

    A picture shared by the CHP shows the officer with a gloved hand holding the owl next to a patrol vehicle.

    Animal control officers picked up the owl and worked with a local wildlife rescue to make sure that it got the proper care.
