(FOX40.COM) — A Placerville woman has been sentenced to 10 years in prison for a 2022 fatal DUI crash, according to the El Dorado County District Attorney’s Office.

While driving back from a family wedding, Erica Lynn Chambers was driving a Mercedes SUV with her boyfriend Mason Visman in the passenger seat.

Chambers was traveling along Highway 50 in Placerville when she collided into the rear of a Toyota Prius before colliding with a guardrail causing Visman to be ejected from the vehicle.

Visman was killed instantly and the passengers of the Prius suffered minor injuries.

The heavily damaged Mercedes kept Chambers from fleeing the scene. She then exited the vehicle and collapsed.

Chambers did not tell the arresting officers who found her to be “highly intoxicated” that Visman had been in her vehicle at the time of the crash.

Days later when Visman’s body had been located by a passerby, Chambers was re-arrested for gross vehicular manslaughter.
