(FOX40.COM) — An inmate who escaped from the Plumas County Jail in late September and has been on the run for three weeks has been caught , according to the Plumas County Sheriff’s Office.

The agency said that Caleb Duerr, 39, was detained at his residence in Johnsville, California. The area is about 27 miles from the jail where he escaped from, and about 150 miles northeast of Sacramento.

The sheriff’s office said it received information earlier this week that Duerr may have returned to his residence.

Duerr allegedly made it past two fences at the Plumas County Jail in Quincy on September 27 and was able to get a ride from a stranger at an auto parts store.

The man who gave him a ride told officials that he dropped him off near the community of Beckworth shortly after giving him a lift.

After his arrest on Thursday, Duerr was once again taken to the Plumas County Jail, where he is being held without bail.
