(FOX40.COM) — Sacramento Police announced on Thursday that officers had made the first arrest connected to a rash of shootings over 26 hours in mid-September that left five people dead, including a 12-year-old boy.

Sacramento Police said officers detained 29-year-old Alex Brown on Wednesday evening. He has been booked at the Sacramento County Jail on homicide-related charges.

The shooting he was arrested in connection with took place just before 1 a.m. on Sept. 21 near J and 23rd Streets , the first of five separate shootings across the city and near the city’s edge with Sacramento County over that weekend.

Police said two men were found with gunshot wounds after that Midtown shooting, one of whom was pronounced dead at the site.

Around 5 p.m., officers responded to the area of Occidental Drive and Great Falls Way, in the College/Glen neighborhood, where a woman died after she was found with a gunshot wound.

About one hour later, a 12-year-old boy was killed near Meadowview Road and 22nd St.

Another shooting happened around just one hour later in the Arden-Arcade neighborhood of Sacramento County, where police said a gang-related shooting left a man with multiple gunshot wounds, including one to the face, outside of a gas station near Fulton and Northrop Avenues.

The next shooting happened around 2 a.m. in South Natomas , where a man was found near Seamist Drive and Sandcastle Way with a gunshot wound. He ultimately died from his injuries.

Aside from the arrest on Wednesday in connection with the first shooting, no other suspects in any of the other shootings have been detained in the four weeks since that weekend.
