HUNTSVILLE, Ala. — The Madison County Sheriff's Office is looking for a group of people involved in a series of car break-ins in the Harvest community during the early hours of May 19. Between 2 a.m. and 4 a.m., the group broke into cars and stole items in the area.

Rep. Dale Strong pens letter to Postmaster General asking for relief for 'overburdened' facilities
HUNTSVILLE, Ala. — Alabama Congressman Dale Strong, whose constituency includes much of North Alabama, wrote a letter this week to United States Postmaster General Louis DeJoy, requesting the postal service to "invest in a Processing & Distribution Facility" in his district. The letter comes as Strong attempts to offer solutions to what he and others have called an "inefficient" system that has led to service disruptions and delays, such as the case of an Owens Cross Roads resident who chronicled masses of packages that a small number of staff were trying to handle this past February.

HEMSI slammed with $15 million judgement in wrongful death suit
HUNTSVILLE, Ala. — A Limestone County grand jury this week found that Huntsville Emergency Medical Services, Inc., commonly known as HEMSI, and two of its ambulance operators were negligent in the care of a patient who later died after their transport from Huntsville Hospital to UAB Hospital. The wife of Robert Owen, who died May 4, 2019, alleged in her lawsuit that the actions of Jacob Steele and Calvin Hui added undue distress to Owen and played a role in his death.

DECATUR, Ala. — In a ruling filed Friday, the judge overseeing the Mac Marquette murder trial made a gag order precluding all parties involved from speaking with the media, expanding on an original order issued earlier this year. According to data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), from 2010 to 2019, an average of 3,957 unintentional drowning deaths occurred in the United States, excluding those related to boating. Shockingly, drowning ranks as the second leading cause of unintentional injury death for children ages 1 to 14, trailing only behind motor vehicle crashes. More children ages 1-4 die from drowning than any other cause. More than 40% of these drownings treated in emergency departments need hospitalization or further care, highlighting the severe consequences of water-related accidents.
