Limestone County warden accused of growing hallucinogenic mushrooms
LIMESTONE COUNTY, Ala. — A Limestone County corrections officer and his wife were arrested Friday and charged with multiple drug-related offenses, including the growing of psychotropic mushrooms. A release from the Alabama Department of Corrections identifies the coup as Chadwick Crabtree, warden of the Limestone County Correctional Facility, and his wife Melissa Crabtree.

Man accused of shooting motel owner to death pleads not guilty
TUSCUMBIA, Ala. — The man investigators say was seen on closed-circuit camera footage fatally shooting a Sheffield motel owner pleaded not guilty to murder. William Jeremy Moore was arrested on February 8 and charged with murder in the death of Pravin Patel, owner of the Hillcrest Motel on N. Jackson Hwy.
Madison County's tourism impact numbers for 2023 "eclipse" the previous year
HUNTSVILLE, Ala. — Charles Winters, Executive Vice President of the Huntsville Madison Conventions & Visitors Bureau shares many that visit the Rocket City are often surprised by what they find. “ What we hear a lot is I really didn't know everything about Huntsville until I got here. I had no idea that y'all had so much to see and do,” Winters shares. “ We just had a very successful pop culture and comic activity. I think there were over 22,000 who participated in that. The National Children's Advocacy Center had their conference here, The Army, they always have very strong attendance at their conference. You look at all of those activities, in addition to the sporting events and other activities, there's just really a lot for both residents and visitors alike to enjoy.”
Huntsville's new transit station to open this June
HUNTSVILLE, Ala. — A new Huntsville Transit facility is underway. The new station is expected to accommodate the growth of the transit system over the next ten to fifteen years. The transfer station expected to open in late June will be a hub for Huntsville Transit bus routes, traveling in and out each day.

One dead after hit-and-run on Memorial Parkway
HUNTSVILLE, Ala. — One person is dead after a hit-and-run on Memorial Parkway. Huntsville Police Department says the car left after hitting Marquez Williams just north of Mastin Lake Road. Huntsville police confirm 11 arrests made during weekend traffic safety checkpoints
HUNTSVILLE, Ala. — Huntsville Police Department has confirmed that the DUI checkpoints over the past weekend resulted in 11 arrests with 10 of them being DUI related. According to the Huntsville police, the checkpoint was successful in keeping the roadway safe for drivers. HPD confirms that the number of DUI arrests is unusually high for a checkpoint, and it is unclear what caused the increase in arrests.

ATHENS, Ala. — Limestone County is ready to celebrate OMCO Solar, which is a $10 million capital investment, and bringing about 70 jobs to Huntsville and surrounding areas. Limestone County Economic Development Association President and CEO Bethany Shockney explained that OMCO is leasing a building in Huntsville West Industrial Park for the production of solar tracking. The company makes the frames for solar panels and is one of the nation's largest manufacturers of steel structures for solar panels. "Every time we have a company like this, this is another prime example of the opposite of what we're typically used to. We have a company that supports as a tier supplier to a to a company outside of our area, and in this case, a couple of counties over. So that's a prime example of rising water raises all ships for us from an industrial standpoint."
New affordable housing project looks to help the most vulnerable approved by the city
HUNTSVILLE, Ala. — Fulfilling the need for more affordable housing has been a big concern for the city and a new project looks to do so. " Being able to provide this transitional housing where they will pay rent, but the rents will be at a level that they can afford is a step in improving quality of life for these folks," Executive director of Neighborhood Concepts Mary Ellen Judah shares.
