Driver injured after garbage truck plows into Madison home
MADISON, Ala — First responders say the driver of a garbage truck was taken to the hospital Friday after his truck left the road and plowed directly into a Madison home. Police say it happened around 11 a.m., when a fire inspector noticed the Republic Services truck sideswiping curbs along Sullivan Street. The truck reportedly narrowly avoided hitting one house before it crashed directly into the front of a home on Grayson Avenue.

Body of Morgan County man found in Tennessee River
DECATUR, Ala. — UPDATE (3 P.M.) -- Decatur police confirmed the body of Justin Shane Letson was recovered from the Tennessee River about 2:30 p.m. No foul play is suspected. Morgan County Rescue Squad and Decatur Police Department are seeking the public’s help in locating Justin Shane Letson, who was reported missing in Decatur on Thursday night. Letson was last seen near Point Mallard or Hard Dock on the Tennessee River. He is described as being 6’0” tall, about 195 lbs., with blonde hair.
Sen. Garlan Gudger injured after jet ski accident, recovering at UAB
CULLMAN, Ala. — Senator Garlan Gudger (R-Cullman) was airlifted to UAB Hospital in Birmingham on Thursday after a jet ski accident on Smith Lake. According to a statement from the Alabama State Senate, Gudger underwent surgery for internal bleeding and other injuries, and is now in the Intensive Care Unit. A statement from the Alabama Senate on Friday said that the senator's prognosis was good.

MADISON COUNTY, ALABAMA, Ala. — A 20-year-old is dead following a fireworks accident early Friday, confirmed Don Webster of Huntsville Emergency Medical Services. Webster stated that the incident happend shortly after midnight at a house near the intersection of Nick Davis Road and Pettus Road in Madison County. Emergency responders transported the man to Huntsville Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. — What kind of fireworks you can set off in Alabama depends on where you are. Most cities ban fireworks, although some, like Huntsville, allow some non-explosive, non-aeriel devices. In Florence, an individual may detonate fireworks within the city limits on July 4th between the hours of 10:00 a.m. through 11:00 p.m. of the same day. Rules are different on other days.
