North Central dedicates fieldhouse named for longtime athletic director, coach

INDIANAPOLIS – North Central High School will dedicate a new facility Friday to honor the life and legacy of longtime athletic director Paul Loggan.

Loggan, who spent 32 years advocating for athletes as a teacher, coach and athletic director, died from COVID-19 complications in 2020. The Paul Loggan Fieldhouse spans 91,500 square feet. The facility, paid for with money allocated from referenda in 2016 and 2020, cost nearly $470 million.

Inside, visitors will find four basketball courts, a six-lane track, a wrestling room, coaching offices, multipurpose community rooms and more.

Loggan championed having top-notch facilities for student-athletes. He advocated for a fieldhouse addition for years.

“It’s amazing to see it built from the ground up, and what this township’s doing. It’s amazing,” said Will Loggan, Loggan’s son.

“As a family, from my mom, Will, Sammy—we are so proud of the way Washington Township has embraced us as a family,” said Michael Loggan, another son. “He would be tickled pink, as he would say, walking in here and seeing this facility.”

The dedication event is scheduled for 4:30 p.m. on Friday, March 8
