HENDRICKS COUNTY, Ind. — An Indiana high schooler was killed in a single-vehicle crash near Stilesville early Monday morning.

According to a news release from the Hendricks County Sheriff’s Office, the crash occurred in the 7500 block of South County Road 550 West. Deputies were dispatched to area around 4:22 a.m. after receiving a report about a car that had hit a utility pole.

According to Mill Creek School District Superintendent Jim Diagostino, Cascade High School student Cyle Sullivan died in the crash. HCSO reported that Sullivan was 18 years old.

After a preliminary investigation, deputies have determined Sullivan was driving a silver Ford Taurus northbound on County Road 550 West before the crash. Investigators believe Sullivan drove off the roadway near a curve and struck and utility pole.

The crash caused the Taurus to roll. Sullivan was transported to IU Methodist Hospital before he died.

There were no passengers in Sullivan’s vehicle at the time of the crash, per HCSO. Sullivan was supposed to graduate from high school on Friday.

Diagostino told FOX59 and CBS4 that Cascade High School will have counselors available for students and staff all week. Classes at the school will end for the year on Wednesday.

Diagostino released a statement on Tuesday morning:

On behalf of the entire Mill Creek Community School Corporation, our thoughts and prayers are with the family and friends of Cyle Sullivan. We are saddened by this sudden and tragic loss of one of our Cadets. Cyle was a 12th grade student at Cascade High School, involved in extracurricular activities, and on track for his career pathway following graduation. We will have counselors available for our students and staff during this difficult time. Our school community will rally to support each other!
