CASS COUNTY, Ind. — Cass County authorities responded to a serious crash involving a pickup truck and motorcycle that injured two people Tuesday morning.

Deputies with the Cass County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched around 10:40 a.m. to the intersection of Logansport Road and U.S. 24 after receiving early reports indicating that a motorcycle traveling eastbound had struck a westbound pickup truck.

According to CCSO, preliminary information indicates a 27-year-old male was operating a 2024 Kawasaki motorcycle and traveling eastbound on U.S. 24. At some point, a 2014 Ford F150 being operated by a 71-year-old “pulled into the path” of the motorcycle, causing the motorcyclist to collide with the rear of the driver’s side cab.

The 71-year-old had reportedly failed to yield while traveling westbound on Logansport Road moments before the crash occurred, CCSO said.

The driver of the Ford F150 had complained to emergency medical personnel on the scene of neck pain and was transported to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Meanwhile, the motorcyclist was brought to Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne. CCO confirmed that the driver of the motorcycle was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.

The investigation into the circumstances of the crash remains active, with authorities stating that alcohol is not believed to have played a role in the crash.
