GRANT COUNTY, Ind. — A Grant County woman was arrested and charged for her alleged role in an overdose death a year ago.

The Grant County Sheriff’s Office announced the arrest of 30-year-old Gabrielle Wortman for allegedly supplying drugs that led to the overdose death of an individual in April 2023, according to GCSO. Wortman has been preliminarily charged with a level 1 felony of dealing in a substance resulting in death.

Authorities soon identified Wortman as the person responsible for allegedly providing the victim with the illegal controlled substance that ultimately led to their overdose death, GCSO said.

Autopsy reports later revealed that the victim had died as a result of fentanyl and heroin that was found in their system, GCSO said.

Wortman was arrested on July 24 in Hamilton County before she was booked into the Grant County Jail on a $100,000 cash bond.
