LOGANSPORT, Ind. — A man is in serious condition at an Indy hospital after police say his car ran off US 24 and crashed near a Logansport pool business into some nearby trees, eventually catching fire.

Cass County Sheriff’s Deputies were called around 12:15 p.m. Thursday to Budreau Pools – a business off of US 24 just west of US 35 – for a serious car crash. Upon arrival, police and EMS crews found a 2002 Ford F-150 truck on fire near a grove of trees at the Dunkirk Exchange.

First responders reportedly found a 50-year-old man inside the burning truck and were able to remove him. The man was eventually flown to Eskenazi Hospital by helicopter and is reportedly in serious condition.

“The driver was wearing a seatbelt which reduced his injuries from the crash,” Sheriff Ed Schroder said.

Preliminary information from police shows that the man was driving westbound on US 24 when he veered off the north side of the roadway toward Budreau Pools’ parking lot. His truck reportedly hit several items in the lot before crashing into a grove of trees and catching fire.

The crash is being investigated by the Cass County Sheriff’s Office. Anyone with additional information is asked to call (574) 753-7800.
