Person killed in Lawrence car crash on Pendleton Pike

LAWRENCE, Ind. — One person is dead after a two-car crash near the Maplewood neighborhood in Lawrence, according to local police.

Lawrence Police Department crews were called Thursday afternoon to a crash involving two vehicles near Pendleton Pike and Bittersweet Lane. This is near the entrance to the Maplewood neighborhood, LPD said.

One person was declared dead on the scene by medics and police. Accident investigators and Marion County Coroner’s Office crews have been called to assist officers.

On Friday, the Marion County Coroner’s Office identified the person who died as 60-year-old Sarona Manu.

LPD Lt. David S. Gordon said that police are looking to get more information from anyone involved in the crash or who may have witnessed it. Police said there are no traffic signals at the intersection and that a cause for the crash has not yet been determined.
