INDIANAPOLIS — Friends and family of a man shot and killed on the northwest side last week are now offering a reward.

Almost a week ago, 32-year-old Saad Dine Riha was gunned down on Shore Drive while he and a group of people were having a picnic in the area. While it is still unclear what led to that shooting, friends are now offering a $10,000 reward in hopes somebody with information comes forward.

“I’ve just been heartbroken,” friend Mohameden Aidelha said. “[I’m] shocked. [I’m] angry.”

Friends like Aidelha said they are still trying to come to terms with Friday’s shooting. Now, they are left questioning why anyone would have wanted to kill him.

“We in the community, especially the Muslim community, have been shattered into pieces by this act,” Aidelha said. “He certainly didn’t deserve this.”

Aidelha met Riha about five years ago in Washington DC. He said the two have been close friends ever since.

“He was a really good human being,” Aidelha said. “[He was] a dedicated husband, a loving father, warmhearted, good looking, hardworking and bright.”

Police said Riha and a group had a picnic Friday night before another group approached them. At some point, IMPD said gunfire erupted.

“His wife was waiting in the car, when two individuals on a motorcycle opened fire and killed him,” Aidelha said.

Police said they are searching for two suspects. It is unclear if the suspects and Riha knew each other.

While police are still investigating possible motives, friends like Aidelha worry it could have been a hate crime. Regardless, he said he hopes a $10,000 reward leads to answers.

“He definitely doesn’t deserve this and we hope that everyone in the community helps us find the criminals that conducted this heinous act,” Aidelha said.

Anyone with information is asked to call IMPD or Crimestoppers at 317-262-TIPS.
