INDOT to complete work on Spring Mill Rd. bridge

HAMILTON COUNTY, Ind. — Officials with the Indiana Department of Transportation released its plans for lane restrictions on I-465 westbound and U.S. 31 for a bridge inspection and repairs this weekend.

This comes after a semi-truck collided with the Spring Mill Rd. Bridge in late July. According to previous reports , an over-sized load collided with the bridge on July 18, causing a fuel spill on I-465 westbound. INDOT officials decided to keep the bridge closed at the time after the bridge’s beams were inspected.

According to an update from INDOT on Friday, the I-465 westbound double lane closure schedule is as follows:

• 9 p.m. Friday through 11 a.m. Saturday
• 9 p.m. Saturday through 11 a.m. Sunday
• 9 p.m. Monday through 5 a.m. Tuesday.

The U.S. 31 southbound to I-465 westbound ramp closure schedule is as follows:

• 8 p.m. Friday through 12 p.m. Saturday
• 8 p.m. Saturday through 12 p.m. Sunday
• 8 p.m. Monday through 6 a.m. Tuesday.

The U.S. 31 northbound to I-465 westbound ramp closure schedule is as follows:

• 8 p.m. Friday through 12 p.m. Saturday
• 8 p.m. Saturday through 12 p.m. Sunday
• 8 p.m. Monday through 6 a.m. Tuesday.

“These restrictions will allow crews to safely inspect the beams on the Spring Mill Rd. bridge over I-465 westbound,” the release said. “INDOT reminds drivers to consider worker safety by slowing down, using caution and avoiding distractions when traveling in and near work zones. All work is weather-dependent and schedules are subject to change.”
