    Triple Canopy issuing 123 layoffs due to contracts ending Sept. 30

    INDIANAPOLIS — Triple Canopy, a private security company, is letting go of 123 employees after the FPS-IN contract expires on Sept. 30.

    According to a letter from Triple Canopy’s HR, the company is letting go of 113 Armed Protective Security Officers, four Lieutenants, two Captains (Security Exempt), one Administrative Assistant, one Contract Manager, one Training Manager and one Training Instructor.

    Triple Canopy wrote that the personnel will have their employment end on Sept. 30, but will still be paid through the last date of their contract in accordance with state law. Those working on the FPS-IN contract in the following locations will be affected;

    • Anderson, Ind.
    • Auburn, Ind.
    • Bloomington, Ind.
    • Columbus, Ind.
    • Elkhart, Ind.
    • Evansville, Ind.
    • Fort Wayne, Ind.
    • Gary, Ind.
    • Hammond, Ind.
    • Indianpolis
    • Kokomo, Ind.
    • Lafayette, Ind.
    • Madison, Ind.
    • Marion, Ind.
    • Merrillville, Ind.
    • Muncie, Ind.
    • Richmond, Ind.
    • South Bend, Ind.
    • Terre Haute, Ind.
    • Valparaiso, Ind.

    These layoffs are in accordance with the Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act (WARN). This act requires certain employers to provide advance notification prior to planned layoffs or shutdowns, when they result in a loss of work over six months, termination or a certain decrease in work hours.
