LYONS, Ind. — Three pedestrians were struck by a Jeep during a Greene County truck pull on Friday night.

According to a press release, the Switz City Fire Department requested Greene County Sheriff’s deputies respond to Wagler’s Motorsports in Lyons around 7:15 p.m. SCFD officials told law enforcement four people had been injured in a crash that unfolded at the scene.

When deputies made it Wagler’s Motorsports, they learned the crash involved a Jeep that was being used as a pit vehicle for the Schied’s Diesel Extravaganza truck pull. Police were told the Jeep was driven out of the truck pull staging area and into a crowd of people.

Per GCSO, three people, a track rake, a side-by-side utility vehicle and another car were struck by the Jeep. The Jeep ended up on its side after the crash.

Police reported that all three pedestrians and the driver of the Jeep were transported from the scene to local hospitals in critical condition.

GCSO is still examining the exact circumstances that led to the crash. Deputies encourage those with additional information on the incident to call them at (812) 384-4411.

In their press release, police did not clarify if the Jeep was driven into the crowd accidentally or intentionally.
