1 dead, 1 injured after early morning crash in Delaware County

DELAWARE COUNTY, Ind. — One man died after an early morning accident on State Road 67 in Delaware County, according to officials with the Delaware County Sheriff’s Office.

At around 5:53 a.m. on Tuesday, dispatch received a report of a crash near the drag strip on State Road 67.

When deputies arrived at the scene, they saw a Hyundai Elantra in the middle of the road with “heavy” damage to its front end, according to the office. Another vehicle, a Mustang, was on the south side of the road and had rolled over.

Officials said that the driver of the Mustang, identified by the office as a man, was ejected from the vehicle and died at the scene. The driver of the Elantra, who was also identified by the office as a man, was transported to a hospital by helicopter.

Officials with the Delaware County Sheriff’s Office’s crash investigation team are investigating the incident. The office said that it is unclear the direction each vehicle traveled in the incident.
