    Man dies in shooting on Indy’s south side; IMPD believes second incident related

    INDIANAPOLIS — A man died in an early Tuesday morning shooting on the south side of Indianapolis.

    According to the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department, officers received a report of a person shot in the 4000 block of Independence Drive around 12:30 a.m. Tuesday.

    When officers arrived, they located an adult male with a gunshot wound. He was taken to the hospital in critical condition but later died from his injuries, IMPD said.

    Shortly after the shooting, police received a report of a walk-in person shot at Community South Hospital; IMPD located an adult male with a gunshot wound. Police initially detained the individual after he left the hospital but later released him.

    Investigators believe the two shootings are related, although they didn’t specify how the incidents were linked.
