INDIANAPOLIS — Indiana State Police have arrested a Perry Meridian student for allegedly making threats to the Indy high school.

Perry Township Schools emailed parents Friday announcing that their school resource officers along with ISP troopers arrested a student in connection with an online threat made to PMHS. The threat reportedly disrupted school activities on Tuesday.

While the district did not elaborate on what the threats specifically were, they did release a statement regarding the disruption, investigation and arrest.

“Please know that these threats are taken very seriously and we will work to prosecute every individual involved to the fullest extent. These threats create dangerous situations when our police resources are stretched thin, heighten concern and anxiety, and completely disrupt the learning environment. In each situation a threat is made our administration, police, and staff drop everything they are doing to evaluate the incident and follow our safety protocols. This can be exhausting but it is necessary.

Perry Meridian officials went on to say that the student now faces felony charges.

“[Parents should] be vigilant in letting [students] know how serious making false reports and/or threats can be, felony charges are serious,” the district said.

The district praised the response of the Perry Township Schools Police Department and the community and encouraged everyone to “stay vigilant.” Safety concerns regarding Perry Meridian can be reported by calling (317) 789-3905 or (317) 780-4296 after hours.

If PD and Feds would have taken this same action with Apalachee HS, it may have saved lives.

Perry Meridian doesn’t play around about this stuff. That’s part of what makes it a great school!
