INDIANAPOLIS — The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department is investigating a fatal crash that occurred on the north side of the city Sunday morning.

According to IMPD, officers were called around 9:52 a.m. to the 5900 block of Kessler Boulevard East Drive on a report of a crash. Upon arrival, they determined that the crash was fatal.

After an investigation, police learned a gray vehicle was traveling eastbound in the area when it became involved in a crash with a white car that was driving westbound. The driver and sole occupant of the gray vehicle — who IMPD identified as an adult female — was pronounced dead on scene.

On Monday, the Marion County Coroner’s Office identified the person who died as 52-year-old Martha Henriquez.

In compliance with IMPD’s standard policy, the driver of the white car was taken to Eskenazi Hospital for a blood draw. Police reported that the driver of the white car did not display any signs of impairment at the scene.

The white car’s passengers were transported to an area hospital to have minor injuries they sustained treated. Both cars involved in the crash were towed, per IMPD.

The Marion County Coroner’s Office is assisting law enforcement with the crash investigation. MCCO will release the decedent’s name after her family has been properly notified of her death.

As of this article’s publication, no additional information on the incident had been made available.
