Crews respond to house fire on northeast side; 1 sent to hospital

INDIANAPOLIS – One person went to the hospital after a house fire on the northeast side early Monday morning.

Crews were dispatched just after 5 a.m. to the 8300 block of Aspen Court near 42 ^nd Street and North Franklin Road. They encountered heavy fire coming from the home.

The Indianapolis Fire Department said an adult male suffered burns and was taken to Eskenazi Hospital for further evaluation. The house had working smoke detectors, IFD said.

The house was a total loss. The cause remains under investigation.
