    University of Indianapolis professor wins Indiana Authors Award

    INDIANAPOLIS –An associate professor of English at the University of Indianapolis is now an Indiana Authors Award winner.

    According to the Indiana Authors Award website, Rebecca McKanna recently won the genre award for her debut novel “Don’t Forget the Girl.” McKanna’s novel was also featured on the shortlist of the Indiana Author Award’s 2024 debut award.

    According to the Indiana Authors Award website, “Don’t Forget the Girl” follows the aftermath of the killing of a University of Iowa freshman and its impact on the victim’s friends, as well as the suspected serial killer.

    Before her debut novel, McKanna’s short stories have been anthologized in “The Best American Mystery Stores 2019” and was recognized as distinguished in “The Best American Short Stories 2019.” McKanna has also been published in various publications like McSweeny’s Internet Tendency, Third Coast and The Rumpus.
