    Indiana Aviation Hall of Fame to host 2024 ceremony

    CARMEL, Ind. –The Indiana Aviation Hall of Fame will honor its 2024 class during its honors banquet and induction ceremony.

    According to the Hall of Fame’s website, the ceremony will be at 6 p.m. on Sept. 21 at 502 East Event Centre in Carmel. The following people will be honored during the banquet:

    • Joseph P. Allen IV, Ph.D., NASA Astronaut
    • Wilbur (“Wil”) A. Davis, US Navy Veteran, decorated Vietnam pilot, Aviation Entrepreneur
    • Larry W. Gross, Purdue University Aviation Educator, FAA Pilot Examiner
    • Dr. Worthe S. Holt, Jr, USAF Maj. Gen. (Ret), Command Pilot, Flight Surgeon, Physician, Sagamore of the Wabash Recipient
    • John D. Riddle, USAF Maj. Gen. (Ret), decorated Vietnam combat pilot and military commander
    • Edmond Soliday, US Army Veteran, Professional Pilot and System Safety Engineer, Indiana State Representative

    “These individual honorees have made significant and enduring contributions to the history of aviation and aerospace in Indiana, the nation, or the world through achievement, leadership, exceptional service, innovation and/or entrepreneurial spirit,” the website said. “Their induction will be commemorated with a permanent Indiana Aviation Hall of Fame display plaque, a personal medallion and a crystal award.”

    The honorees, along with attendees, will hear from Heather “Lucky” Penney, a Purdue alumna who was the first female F-16 fighter jet sent up on Sept. 11, 2001.

    Penney and David Newill, a member of the Indiana Aviation Hall of Fame’s board of directors, were featured on the FOX59 Morning News talking about the event. Watch the interview above.
