BCSO: Indiana drug dealer swallowed ‘significant amount’ of fentanyl before arrest

ELIZABETHTOWN, Ind. — A Bartholomew County man now faces felony drug dealing charges after a warrant was served last week at his Elizabethtown house. The man reportedly swallowed a “significant amount” of fentanyl prior to his arrest.

Christopher Henson, 48, was arrested by Bartholomew County sheriff’s deputies last Friday after a drug warrant was served at his home in the 400 block of 3rd Street. He now faces various charges including dealing meth and possessing narcotics.

Sheriff Dane Duke said in a news release Wednesday that the search was “based on information that was gathered earlier” and implicated Henson in a narcotics dealing ring. The search reportedly yielded a “substantial amount” of meth, syringes, scales and other paraphernalia.

While detaining Henson, police learned he had swallowed a “significant amount” of alleged fentanyl. Because of this, he was taken to Columbus Regional Hospital for treatment.

After being cleared from the hospital, Henson was detained and booked into the Bartholomew County Jail on the following charges:

• Dealing Methamphetamine
• Possession of a Narcotic Drug
• Obstruction of Justice
• Possession of a Syringe
• Maintaining a Common Nuisance
• Possession of Paraphernalia

Henson is currently being held on a 72-hour hold, Duke said.

Online court records show that Henson has an extensive criminal history that includes multiple prior convictions for driving while intoxicated, possessing narcotics and marijuana and more. Duke also confirmed Wednesday that Henson has a prior drug dealing conviction.
