PARKE COUNTY, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV)— An 83-year-old pilot from Illinois survived a plane crash Wednesday afternoon after landing in a bean field outside of Turkey Run State Park.

Parke County Sheriff Jason Frazier stated Wednesday at 12:20 p.m. that the Sheriff’s office received a report of a plane crash. The pilot was flying a Cessna 170A and occurred on County Road 200 East, east of Warrior Road.

Shariff Frazier stated that the call was made by the pilot who made it out with only scrapes on his arm. The National Transportation Safety Board and the Federal Aviation Administration were notified of the incident. Parke County Deputies are investigating at the scene and Marshall Fire and Rescue assisted in treating the pilot. The pilot was said to be flying from Chicago to Kentucky.
