FOX59/CBS4 has requested a mugshot of Gregory Gabler. This article will be updated once the photo is released.

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. — An Indiana University student faces felony charges after police received reports of a rape on IU’s Bloomington campus.

Gregory Gabler – an 18-year-old IU student from Lake Worth, Florida – was arrested this week by IU Police officials after a rape was reported at an on-campus dorm. He now faces two Level 3 Felony counts of rape.

IUPD was alerted to the rape on Tuesday after a victim report.

After gathering further information against Gabler, IUPD officers tracked him down Tuesday inside one of his classes on campus. He was then taken to IUPD headquarters, where officers said he refused to answer any questions about the rape report.

Gabler was arrested by IUPD officers later that night and booked into the Monroe County Jail on charges of rape, criminal confinement and sexual battery. Additionally, IUPD said that Gabler has been issued a trespass warning for all IU property.

Online court records show Gabler now faces two felony rape charges and has an initial court hearing scheduled for 1 p.m. Thursday.

This is at least the third rape reported to IUPD since students returned to Bloomington for classes this semester. Additionally, IU student Jackson Arnold was arrested during Welcome Week for sexual battery on campus after reportedly groping several young women.

These were not the only on-campus sexual crimes reported to IU officials since Aug. 1. Officers received a report from the Title IX Office regarding a student who had been photographed while showering at an on-campus dorm.

“The incident has not been reported to IUPD by the individuals involved,” the department said in a statement Wednesday. “This case has been referred to university officials for review.”
