INDIANAPOLIS – The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department is investigating after a man was shot and killed early Friday morning.

According to IMPD, officers were called to the Westmont Apartments in the 1500 block of Lewis Street for a domestic disturbance just before 12:30 a.m.

When officers arrived, they found an adult male with a gunshot wound in a hallway. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

On Friday, the Marion County Coroner’s Office identified the person who died as 24-year-old Raylon Lamont Matthews.

Police said they didn’t have any witnesses but they had a person of interest in custody.

Officers believe this is an isolated incident and there is no threat to the community.

Anyone with information should call IMPD at 317-327-3475 or Crime Stoppers at 317-262-TIPS (8477).
