1 killed in car crash on State Road 47 in Boone County

BOONE COUNTY, Ind. — A person died in a car crash in Boone County on Monday afternoon.

According to a press release, Boone County Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to the 3000 block of State Road 47 East around 1:57 p.m. on a report of a crash involving a dump truck and a pickup truck.

When first responders arrived at the scene, they located a white 2008 Chevrolet Silverado occupied by 34-year-old Kyle Smith of Kirklin and overturned dump truck. The Silverado, which had sustained significant damage, was still in the roadway when police found it.

Smith was pronounced dead at the scene. One of the dump truck’s occupants was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The Boone County Sheriff’s fatal alcohol crash team is investigating the incident. As of this article’s publication, no additional information on the incident had been made available.
