    ISP: Trooper convinced person not to jump off interstate road sign

    INDIANAPOLIS — An Indiana State Trooper convinced a person not to jump off an interstate sign, police said.

    In a post on X , Sgt. John Perrine indicated the trooper — identified as Joe Malone — climbed up an interstate sign to convince a person not to jump from it.

    Perrine reported that, after some time, the person reached out to Malone and shared a hug with him. After that, the Indianapolis Fire Department helped both of them get down from the sign safely.

    Indiana State Police also used Malone’s story as an opportunity to remind the public that the Suicide and Crisis Lifeline can be reached in Indiana by dialing 988.
