Court docs: Victim unlikely to regain sight in eye after being assaulted with golf club

FISHERS, Ind. — An Indianapolis man faces multiple felony charges after an alleged golf club assault left another man with skull and facial fractures.

Kobe Blake is charged with 11 felony counts including aggravated battery, a Level 3 felony; robbery resulting in bodily injury, a Level 3 felony: battery by means of a deadly weapon, a Level 5 felony and auto theft, a Level 6 felony.

According to court documents, the assault occurred in early July at a Fishers home located in the 11800 block of Ashton Drive. The victim ended up being transported to a hospital where doctors diagnosed him with several skull, facial and ocular fractures.

Court documents reveal that as a result of the brutal assault, the victim will likely never regain vision in one of his eyes.

Investigators spoke with both the victim and Blake several times while trying to sort out what all had occurred on the night of July 3. Blake was accused of assaulting the victim with a golf club in the victim’s own home before robbing the man of several items including his Ford F-150 pickup.

Investigators eventually learned that the men had been hanging out together prior to the assault and visited several locations together including grabbing drinks at the Living Room Lounge. The two eventually made their way back to the victim’s home at Fishers where the alleged robbery and assault occurred.

Court documents reveal that Blake tearfully broke down and admitted to the assault, telling officers, “Yeah, I knocked him out.” When asked if he used a golf club to assault the victim, Blake reportedly responded, “I can’t say no.”

According to Blake’s account, he and the victim had been snorting methamphetamine and smoking marijuana prior to the assault.

After beating the victim with the golf club, Blake allegedly stole an Xbox and a Nintendo Switch from the home before then taking the victim’s pickup truck. Police eventually found the truck parked at a hotel where Blake was staying.

“I took the whole f***ing memory of the night,” Blake allegedly told investigators. “I wanted to erase the s*** out of the memory.

Charges weren’t officially filed against Blake until Sept. 11. Prosecutors notified the court they would be seeking a habitual offender enhancement against Blake.

If convicted of a Level 3 felony, Blake could face up to 16 years in prison. A habitual offender enhancement could add up to 20 additional years to a prison sentence.
