NOBLESVILLE, Ind. — A man is dead after being pulled from a retention pond in a Noblesville neighborhood Friday afternoon.

First responders with the Noblesville Police Department and the Noblesville Fire Department were dispatched shortly after 4 p.m. to the area of Hague Road and Windwood Parkway after receiving reports of a person being observed in a retention pond.

One of the callers reportedly told dispatch that they observed a “middle-aged man” on top of the water fountain that is located in the middle of the water body. The caller stated that they then watched as the man jumped into the water where he never resurfaced, NPD said.

Soon after police arrived at the scene, they immediately began to try to locate the subject. An NFD diver ultimately found the individual submerged in the water.

The man was removed from the pond and transported to Riverview Health in Noblesville in critical condition. Per NPD, the individual was pronounced dead shortly after arriving at the hospital.
