Volunteers were cleaning up the river Friday afternoon on the edge of downtown Fort Wayne when they found the remains in the water near Guldlin Park.

The coroner determined Dixon died by strangulation and suffocation, while Johnson died from a gunshot wound and stab wound.

The missing persons bulletin from Indiana State Police shows both were reported missing by the Richmond Police Department as of Sept. 19.
