    3 dogs dead in east side house fire

    INDIANAPOLIS – The Indianapolis Fire Department responded to a house fire early Tuesday morning.

    IFD crews responded to a one-story residence in the 2600 block of North Bazil Avenue just before 2:30 a.m. with fire showing from the rear of the house near the kitchen area.

    IFD say the occupant of the home and a lizard made it out safely. Unfortunately, three dogs died in the fire.

    Officials considered the house a total loss. No firefighters were injured.
