    IMPD investigating homicide after man found dead in east side residence

    INDIANAPOLIS — Officers with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department are investigating after a dead man was found in a residence on the east side of Indianapolis.

    According to a news release from the department, officers with the east district were dispatched to the 3400 block of N. Leland Avenue at around 3:24 p.m. on Monday on a report of a death investigation.

    When officers arrived at the scene, they located an adult man who was reportedly in a decomposed state. The release said that the man was found to have gunshot wound injuries.

    The release said that homicide detectives responded to the scene to begin the investigation. The Marion County Coroner’s Office will determine the exact manner and cause of death. The office will then release the name of the man when next-of-kin has been notified.
