INDIANAPOLIS — An Indianapolis student will have the chance to join a national group of kid journalists to report news for kids, by kids.

Asher Frije, a sixth grade student from Indianapolis, was chosen to join the Scholastic Kids Press program this year.

According to its website, Scholastic Kids Press is a group of kid reporters, ages 10-14, who cover various topics like politics, entertainment, sports and the environment in their hometowns and on the national stage. Participants in the program have interviewed a number of public figures, including former President Barack Obama, news anchor Anderson Cooper, composer and musician Lin-Manuel Miranda and conservationist Jane Goodall.

FOX59 Morning Anchor Angela Ganote spoke with Frije about the program, what topics he plans to cover and what he would like to be when he grows up.
