The post said that detectives with the department’s violent crimes unit were following up on a shots fired investigation when they learned that Hopkins had an active warrant for his arrest. Hopkins was located on Wednesday in a truck near the 10300 block of Trent Court. During the investigation, Cooper was also detained.
During a search of the truck that Hopkins and Cooper were reportedly in, detectives reportedly located:
124 grams of cocaine
26 grams of marijuana
One Glock handgun with a machine gun conversion device
A stolen Beretta handgun
More than $4,000 in cash.
The release said that the Marion County Prosecutor’s Office will make the final charging decision for both Hopkins and Cooper.
IMPD reminded residents that crime has no borders and they will do whatever it takes to get repeat offenders off the streets of Indianapolis.
”Our North District officers went to a different district to find this individual, and so just because the investigation started on North District, they follow the leads,” said Capt. Shane Foley with IMPD.
