INDIANAPOLIS — Each year, the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department puts together a budget based on funding for the needs of that upcoming year.

This comes after Indianapolis Mayor Joe Hogsett recently introduced a $1.6 billion budget for the city in mid-August, which includes funding increases for public safety, anti-violence initiatives and traffic safety.

That budget, in its current form, also includes more funding for police. IMPD’s 2025 budget of nearly $388 million maintains funding for more than 1,700 officers

IMPD Chief Chris Bailey joined the FOX59 Morning News on Monday to talk about the department’s budget priorities under the current proposal.
