‘1000% fictional’: Colts owner Jim Irsay denies ‘piped-in crowd noise’ rumors

INDIANAPOLIS — Indianapolis Colts owner Jim Irsay is vehemently denying that the organization pipes in fake crowd noise during home games, calling the claims “1000% fictional.”

“Reminder…’piped-in crowd noise’ myth — 1000% fictional,” Irsay posted Tuesday on social media.

The denial from Irsay comes after ex-Patriots head coach Bill Belichick made claims on the Manning Cast during yesterday’s Monday Night Football game. Specifically, Belichick said that Irsay and the Colts “piped in music at the RCA Dome” during past home games.

The claim from Belichick came as he and the Manning brothers were discussing the loud crowds at Arrowhead Stadium. Colts legend Peyton Manning, who played in many of the games Belichick was talking about, asked the HOF coach how he and his teams would handle crowd noise.

“The crowd noise there at Arrowhead wasn’t as bad as when you guys piped in music at the RCA Dome,” Belichick said. “And then when the crowd noise skipped, that’s how we knew you were pumping it in.”

The exchange was captured on live television by the NFL on ESPN. To listen to the claims from Belichick, click here .

While Peyton Manning didn’t outright deny Belichick’s claim while on-air, his former boss is now doing just that.

On Tuesday morning, billionaire owner Jim Irsay replied to these claims and offered an explanation for the alleged skipping.

“The ‘skip’ was TV broadcast,” Irsay wrote. “We get it, though…visiting teams couldn’t believe that 60,000 in an intimate domed stadium could make that much deafening noise!”

Irsay ended his denial with a shoutout to the Indy faithful who were responsible for the crowd noise.

“[This is] a credit to Colts fans!,” Irsay wrote.
