INDIANAPOLIS — Investigators have confirmed the name of a 24-year-old man found murdered inside an apartment on Indy’s northeast side.

A small bouquet of flowers sat on the front step of an apartment on Wyckfield Way, where just after 2 a.m. Tuesday, the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department found a man dead inside.

Police are still investigating exactly what led to the homicide.

The Marion County Coroner’s Office said the victim, identified as 24-year-old Caleb Aubrey, died from trauma. IMPD would not be more specific.

Aubrey’s friends said the victim grew up in Noblesville.

They described him as a hardworking kid with a good heart.

The apartment complex where the homicide took place also does not see much violent crime.

Although a notice was posted on the front door, warning that drug related chemicals were found inside the apartment, police would not confirm if drugs may have played a role in the killing.

“We’re early in the investigation. Our detectives are looking for clues and we need the public’s help as well,” IMPD officer Drew Brown said

So far, IMPD does not have any suspect information to release.

Police admit cases like this can be tough to solve without witnesses speaking up.

“Yeah we don’t do it alone. This is our community we serve. Any loss of life is tragic and a family got a knock on their door with terrible news. If this was your family, you’d want answers too,” said Brown.

Anyone with information about this incident should call Detective James Hurt at the IMPD Homicide Office at 317.327.3475 or e-mail the detective at James.Hurt@indy.gov .

Alternatively, they can call Crime Stoppers of Central Indiana at 317.262.8477 or (TIPS) to remain anonymous.
