Crews respond to apartment fire on west side

INDIANAPOLIS – Crews responded to an apartment fire on the west side of Indianapolis Friday morning.

Firefighters were dispatched around 6:15 a.m. to the 7100 block of Wharfside Lane.

According to the Wayne Township Fire Department, the fire started in an exterior area and spread to an attic.

Two families were displaced.

No injuries were reported. The cause remains under investigation.

Officials initially said a dog died in the fire but later clarified that there was no pet death.
