Domestic Violence Awareness Month prevention tips

INDIANAPOLIS — October serves as Domestic Violence Awareness Month.

In 2023, officials with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department saw more than 5,500 domestic violence cases, and so far this year, Indianapolis has more than 4,700.

During the month, Sheltering Wings, a local domestic abuse treatment center, is looking to educate the community on how building connections can support survivors.
