The release said a narcotics detective saw a vehicle speeding on I-40 westbound and called for a unit to initiate a traffic stop of the vehicle. During the stop, a narcotics detection dog with the department “alerted to the presence of narcotics odor in the vehicle.”

After a search of the vehicle, officers reportedly located illegal drugs inside of the vehicle. Officers located more illegal drugs on two of the men at the Hancock County Jail.

“In total, officers located more than 16 grams of suspected fentanyl and more than 42 grams of suspected cocaine, along with U.S. currency,” the release said.
