‘Couldn’t sleep’: North Carolina woman wins $343,099, plans Vegas trip

ROBESON COUNTY, N.C. (WGHP) — Carletta Woodall, of Parkton, put $1 on a digital lottery game on Thursday night and won $343,099, according to an NC Education Lottery news release.

“I couldn’t sleep after that,” she said.

Woodall won the top-level “Epic jackpot” in the Bison Bonanza game, which is a digital instant game featuring a progressive jackpot that can be won at any time.

The odds of that win are 1 in 31 million.

“When the numbers kept going up, I was like, ‘No way,’” she said. “You can imagine how shocked I was.”

Woodall said she already has one plan for her winnings.

“I’ve never been to Vegas, so I want to take a trip there,” she said.

She claimed her prize at lottery headquarters Tuesday.

After required federal and state tax withholdings, she took home $245,316.

In addition to her trip, Woodall plans to do some home repairs and share her winnings with her family.
