Week will end with humidity, scattered thunderstorms in Piedmont Triad

(WGHP) — The work week will end with lots of humidity and scattered thunderstorms.

It will be partly cloudy on Friday with scattered afternoon and evening thunderstorms. A few thunderstorms could produce strong winds and heavy rain. The chance of rain is 40%. Highs on Friday will be in the lower 90s. Factor in the humidity, and our heat index will be around 100 degrees. Alamance, Caswell, Montgomery and Randolph Counties will be under a heat advisory on Friday due to the high heat and humidity.

On Saturday, we’ll see a better chance for scattered afternoon and evening thunderstorms. A few storms could produce strong winds and heavy rain. The chance of rain is 70%. Highs will be in the upper 80s.

Scattered showers and thunderstorms will remain in the forecast for Sunday. Highs on Sunday will be in the upper 80s. The chance of rain is 40%.

It will be partly cloudy and a little warmer on Monday and Tuesday with highs in the lower 90s. The chance of rain is 20%.

On Wednesday, we’ll see partly cloudy skies with a chance for a scattered shower or thunderstorm. Highs on Wednesday will be in the upper 80s.  The chance of rain is 30%.

Scattered shower and thunderstorm chances could be a little higher on Thursday with highs in the upper 80s. The chance of rain is 40%.

In the tropics, we continue to monitor a tropical wave moving across the Caribbean Sea. The system could be near southwest Florida late Saturday. During the day on Sunday, the system could move along the west coast of Florida. At this time, there are still questions about how strong the system will be and if the system will have any impacts in the Piedmont.
