Woman found dead in car; suspect found dead from self-inflicted gunshot wound in North Carolina

BATTLEBORO, N.C. (WNCT) — Deputies with the Nash County Sheriff’s Office responded to Jamie Road Sunday to assist the Wilson County Sheriff’s Office in finding a suspect from a shooting.

The suspect’s vehicle was seen in a driveway on Jamie Road with a dead woman in the back seat. Law enforcement then said they heard a gunshot from inside the home.

They said a man came out of a side door and told them another man had shot himself. The man left the home and was detained.

Law enforcement then entered the home to clear it and found a suspect dead in the front bedroom from a self-inflicted gunshot. Law enforcement officers said there is no ongoing threat to the public. The case is still under investigation.
