DAVIDSON COUNTY, N.C. (WGHP) — A man who attacked a FOX8 photojournalist outside of a Davidson County business has been found guilty.

On July 28, 2022, Zachary Ryan Everhart assaulted a FOX8 photojournalist outside Pretty Paws Country Club on Cecil Street in Davidson County. The photojournalist was covering a story about a dog boarding facility that the State of North Carolina cited for animal mistreatment.

On Wednesday, a jury found Everhart guilty of assault inflicting serious bodily injury, assault inflicting serious injury and common law robbery.

Everhart was sentenced to a minimum of 2.5 years to a maximum of 4.5 years in prison.

“FOX8 wishes to thank the Davidson County District Attorney’s Office and Sheriff’s Department for their diligence and hard work in successfully addressing the egregious acts of violence against our photojournalist,” FOX8 General Manager Jim Himes said.
