(WGHP) — The Piedmont will see increasing temperatures and humidity.

Friday will be partly cloudy with highs in the middle 80s. With increasing humidity, a few afternoon or evening thunderstorms are possible. The best chances for rain on Friday afternoon and evening will be across the mountains and foothills. In the Piedmont, our rain chance is at 25%.

Rain chances will increase a little bit more on Saturday with highs in the upper 80s with feels like temperatures in the low to perhaps middle 90s. The chance of rain is 30%.

A cold front will bring us our best chances for scattered afternoon and evening thunderstorms. Sunday will not be a washout with only a 40% chance of rain. Our highs will be in the middle 80s under partly cloudy skies.

Behind the cold front, our humidity will drop on Monday with highs in the lower 80s. Look for partly cloudy skies with a 30% chance of a leftover shower.

Less humid and cooler air will continue to move into the Piedmont Tuesday through Thursday. Under mostly sunny skies, morning lows will be in the low to middle 60s and highs in the lower 80s.

In the tropics, Hurricane Ernesto will move across the open Atlantic. The hurricane will gain strength and begin to send large waves toward the east coast. So if you are going to the beach, you could see rough surf and rip currents on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Late Friday into Saturday, Hurricane Ernesto will bring high winds and heavy rain to Bermuda. By Sunday, Hurricane Ernesto will move away from Bermuda and race into the open Atlantic.
