YADKIN, N.C. (WGHP) — The Boonville Volunteer Fire Department jumped in to assist the West Yadkin Fire Department as they battled to put out a house fire overnight Saturday, but it came with several challenges.

According to a Facebook post from BVFD, crews arrived at a house fire on Erick Drive.

The home was reportedly more than 4000 square feet, and limited water supply options in the area, in addition to the size of the fire, made it difficult to fight.

At that point, a county-wide response from all fire departments was necessary. Firefighters brought water in tankers from fire hydrants miles away from the scene.

While the home was a total loss, nearby houses received little to no damage.

“This was a significantly challenging fire and certainly not an “everyday fire” for any of our departments but these obstacles were ultimately overcame and significant property was saved for which we are thankful,” the post says.

One person had minor injuries and it took about two hours to get the fire under control.
