HIGH POINT, N.C. (WGHP) — A man is facing arson charges after he was accused of starting fires inside the High Point Library, documents say.

On Aug. 18, documents say Harris maliciously set fires in the High Point Library and that there was someone inside at the time of the burning. A representative from the City of High Point told FOX8 that Harris reportedly lit toilet paper on fire in two of the library’s bathrooms. Staff also reported finding a fire in a trash can.

Harris was arrested after staff saw him in the library the next day and called authorities when they recognized him from security video.

In April, Harris was convicted of wanton injury for an offense that happened on Dec. 2, 2023. He was released on June 2.

Harris was also recently charged with two counts of felony failure to register as a sex offender on Aug. 9.
